Glimpses and Photos
Here and in other parts of this document we have attempted to provide a taste of life on campus in those times. The accelerated course curriculum was difficult and time-consuming and leisure time was limited. We marched to and from class, time out for chow, and hit the books. But boy will be boys and girls will be girls, and mixer dances began the fun. As some of the captioned photos will show, we didn't limit our attention to on-campus co-eds. In the case of a few of my buddies and myself, we met some lovely girls at a weekend in Newport who lived in Salem and Portland which resulted in many hitch-hiking trips thereto. I fell in love with a sorority girl from St. Helens and gave her my high school graduation ring but within a week she lost it in a toilet while washing her hands and that was the end of that.
The 1994 issue of the Beaver, which I have kept all these years, adequately illustrates the joint campus activities and interactions that took place.
